Meet the Team

Sophia Brush Warren - Chief Operating Officer & Creative Director

Sophia’s career began in the island’s retail world, where she spent summers working in a small women’s boutique in Menemsha and winters living in Thailand, importing clothing and developing a deep appreciation for craft, textiles, and global design. In her mid-twenties, she moved off-island to Boston and then Los Angeles, where she entered the world of corporate retail. Before returning home to help her brother run Vineyard Decorators, Sophia led omnichannel and store operations for a luxury denim company, overseeing more than 150 retail locations.

Drawing on her leadership background and her intuitive design sensibility, Sophia has since guided a wide range of residential projects across the island—from intimate furnishings updates to full-scale custom homes in partnership with Martha’s Vineyard’s top architects and builders. Her approach blends elevated design with livable functionality, always grounded in how clients truly use and enjoy their spaces.

Warm, collaborative, and deeply connected to the island community, Sophia brings clarity, creativity, and an eye for beauty to every project. When she’s not working, she’s a devoted mom, an avid traveler, and someone who finds joy in exploring the coastal landscapes that continue to inspire her design work.

John Parker - Master Custom Upholstery Craftsman

John Parker is a Master Craftsman whose vision, skill, and dedication laid the foundation for what Vineyard Decorators is today. After moving from Falmouth to Martha’s Vineyard in 1973, John recognized a meaningful gap in the island’s offerings: the need for high-quality custom upholstery and slipcovers. Already an experienced craftsman with a strong work ethic, he opened Vineyard Decorators in 1978 in the very same location the company occupies today—an old barracks building across from the airport.

As demand for his craftsmanship grew, so did the business. In 1986, John expanded from a purely custom upholstery shop into a full retail furniture company, setting the stage for Vineyard Decorators to become one of the island’s most trusted home furnishings and design destinations. Throughout the decades, John has worked alongside exceptional people who helped shape the business and uphold its reputation for quality and service.

After selling the company to Whitney Brush, John returned to his first love: custom upholstery. Today, he continues to work in our upholstery workroom, proudly serving the island’s need for beautifully crafted, tailor-made pieces—bringing the same passion, skill, and dedication that have guided him for more than 40 years.

Cecily is a Custom Window Technician with a strong background in art, design, and hands-on craftsmanship. Her keen eye for detail and commitment to high-quality work make her an invaluable part of our window treatment and custom workroom department, where no two projects are ever the same. Cecily loves the technical, puzzle-like nature of custom installation and approaches each project with creativity, precision, and care. Before joining Vineyard Decorators, she spent many years managing and operating her own custom floorcloth business, honing her craftsmanship and deepening her appreciation for artisan-made work. Today, she brings that same artistry and enthusiasm to the vibrant team at Vineyard Decorators.

A Massachusetts native with a background in journalism and photography, she has lived a creative and adventurous life, from photographing weddings in Cambridge to giving nature tours in Alaska and selling wine in Oregon. After more than a decade on staff at the MV Times, Danielle transitioned into the world of interiors and found her true home at Vineyard Decorators.
